    601. Tyrell Museum

Ah, yes. The Royal Tyrell museum. The dream of every child who has ever watched “The Land Before time”. Any child who has learned that dinosaurs did really walk this earth and we have only bones to remember them by has at some point begged their parents to take them there. Spoiler, my begging never got me far so as an adult I finally indulged my inner child and my own children in one go. On a sunny Saturday we made the drive to Calgary which is only roughly another hour from Drumheller and my destiny. We stayed in an epic hotel called Staybridge Suits. I highly recommend this place…

    283. Eat alligator

Well I did it. I ate alligator. Not just me, my husband, Erik, my kids and even my awesome cousin were here. I will say this. I did feel tremendous guilt over tackling this adventure. Up here in the great white north we have cows, pigs, and chickens as our main meat source. If you are a hunter or happen to know one you might find yourself eating moose, bear, deer, fish, elk, etc. But alligator? No no no. Here alligators are exotic creatures and we mostly don’t think about eating them. I felt so guilty for eating such a cool and majestic creature. My cousin on the other hand…

    290. Read 100 new books

I have read so many books in my time that I honestly can’t say how many I’ve actually read. However, instead of boring myself (and potentially you) I’ve decided to lay out a new challenge. If I’ve read it before it does not count!!! Give me something new, give me something exciting! Give me a story I never dreamed I’d fall in love with. This is also the beginning of the 1000 Adventures Book Club. If you would like to join me in reading a 100 new books yourself please either follow along with the list below and let me know what you think; or find a book of your…

    234. Knit a Giant Stitch Blanket*

This is a goal that I finally accomplished in 2022… the first time.  I grew up among the most creative and talented women. I remember from a very young age watching both of my grandmothers and my own mother sew, crochet and knit. Although they would make me things and my grandmothers tried to teach me how to create a few odd things, it just never took. To this day I cannot sew in a straight line. Thankfully the gods were smiling at me the day my mom decided she would try handknitting her own giant stitch blanket.  It was such a cool idea! That seems to be a normal…

    236. Color Me Mine With My Kids

Color Me Mine. What a place of magical creativity! When you first walk in all you see is wall to wall color. They have the coolest paintings displayed from some of their paint nights, a gazillion different clay figures to pick from, paint swatches and color comparisons so you know exactly what your creation will look like once it’s done. As we learned the paint colors change once your figure is put into the kiln. And when I tell you they have every sort of paintbrush or sponge you could possibly need to create with I mean they have EVERY kind. Plus, the customer service is top notch. In truth…

    249. Get a Ring Light

It used to be called a Diva Light, but either way I was so excited when I was able to purchase my very own. I put in so much time and research and reading reviews before I found just the right one. I was not willing to compromise on my budget and was relieved when I didn’t have to. The week leading up to the much awaited Amazon delivery was a bit confusing. The photo that accompanied my upcoming order was showing an outlet plug, but when I clicked on the image there was my ring light. So my guess was as good as yours, I had no idea what…

    190. Finish Writing Song

When I was a little girl one of the magics I discovered in this world was my father being able to write his own songs. I would sit with him and request for him to sing his original work over and over again. No, his writing never amounted to anything, you wouldn’t recognize his name and we most certainly never got rich from his hobby. But in truth I always felt as if I was behind the scenes; being filled in on the inner workings of a first addition of a great novel. In fact I loved it so much that when I was nine years old I decided that…

    70. Pole Dancing Classes

Huge Shout out to Empower Pole Fitness. I took classes with them in early 2022. I. can. not. believe. I. did. that. I am not in great shape and have not been for a while. I was hoping to wait until I was but I had a friend interested in going so I jumped on the band wagon. Walking into that first class I was terrified. I definitely could not lift myself onto the pole, the spins were difficult and I definitely did not watch myself in the mirror. On the flip side, there was something about tackling this adventure while it was veeerrry far from my comfort zone that…

    26. Buy a House

Since this website has been a long time coming, let me fill you in. Due to confidentiality reasons I won’t post a picture of my actual house. However, I feel that this tiny cube house posted above his a hysterical hyperbole to describe my most beloved home. Not even 6 months after beginning the monumental task of creating this bucket list my family and I found ourselves in a dire living situation. We no longer got along with our downstairs neighbors, our family of 5 was about to become a family of 6 and unfortunately the homes in our area were not suitable for a large clan such as ours.…
